HVAC Services in Argyle, TX
Lantern Home Services is a family-owned HVAC company based in Flower Mound, about seven miles southeast of the Town of Argyle. We handle AC and heating repair, replacement, and tune-ups from Waterbrook and Lakes of Argyle to the large rural lots off FM 407. Most of Argyle's homes are recent builds, so the first questions we ask are about how the system was installed, not how worn out it is.

Denton Central Appraisal District records for the Town show a median build year of 2015 across 2,033 residential properties with a house on them, with 73 percent built since 2000 and 39 percent since 2020. The Town's 2024 comprehensive plan describes most of Argyle as large-lot rural homes, with smaller-lot neighborhoods along US 377. That is a very different HVAC picture from the older cities nearby. A five year old system has not worn out. When one gives trouble in its first years, the cause is usually something about how it was installed: the drain, the refrigerant charge, the airflow, or the size of the equipment for the house.
In many North Texas homes, the indoor unit sits in the attic over a drain pan with a float switch. When the condensate line clogs, the pan fills and the switch shuts the cooling off to protect the ceiling, which looks like a dead AC on a hot afternoon. A charge that was never set right shows up as a system that cools, just not well. Ducts pinched during construction, or equipment sized from a rule of thumb, show up as one room that never keeps up. We check those first, because in a new house they are far more likely than a failed part, and most of them are quick to fix once found.

Keep the Warranty Working on a New Argyle System
A system this young is often still under warranty, and the warranty is worth protecting. Many manufacturers extend their parts coverage only if the equipment was registered within a set window after installation, and many builders cover the system for a limited time after closing. Before paying for a repair on a newer Argyle home, find the installation paperwork and the model and serial numbers, and check whether the equipment was registered.
Argyle homes also sit on both sides of a refrigerant change. New split systems now use a newer refrigerant, while most homes built in the years before the change run on R-410A, and some older ones still have R-22. The refrigerant and the parts that carry it are not interchangeable between them, so we confirm which one your system uses before we quote anything. The Town also notes that gas and electric providers differ by location, with CoServ serving parts of Argyle and other providers elsewhere, so we ask what your home runs on before we talk about heating.
On the larger lots, a home may run more than one system, and a detached shop or guest house may have its own. We look at each one on its own terms rather than assuming they share a problem.

Working out whether you need the work at all? These are free, they run in your browser, and none of them ask for your email.
- Should you repair or replace your air conditioner? Compare cost per remaining year, not sticker price. Divide the repair quote by the years the system has left. Divide a replacement by however many years you expect a new one to last. The lower number is the cheaper path on cost alone, before you weigh comfort, efficiency, and the odds of a second failure. You set the service-life number yourself in the calculator.
- What size air conditioner do you actually need? No calculator can size your system, including this one. Sizing requires a Manual J load calculation, the industry method for working out how much heating and cooling a specific house needs, accounting for insulation, windows, orientation, ceiling height, duct losses, and air leakage. Floor area captures none of that. The Air Conditioning Contractors of America, the trade body that publishes the standard, is blunt about it: you cannot use square feet per ton to size an air conditioner, you have to do an actual load calculation.
- Are HVAC maintenance plans worth the money? A plan pays for itself when the included visits plus the discount you will really use come to more than the annual fee. Older equipment, multiple systems, or several trades on one plan clear that bar without much trouble. One newer system that rarely needs a service call usually does not.
